President Ruto Announces Groundbreaking Plan to Generate Electricity from Nairobi’s Waste!

During a church service at Friends Church (Quakers) in Donholm on Sunday, President William Ruto announced the Kenyan government’s plans to generate electricity from refuse collected during an upcoming Nairobi cleanup. President Ruto acknowledged the mass pollution within the city and the need to manage waste. He stated that all city emitters have been identified and cleanup efforts will begin with their landfills. The trash collected will be used to generate electricity for Nairobi residents and others.

President Ruto promised to stand with the Nairobi county government until the city is cleaned, emphasizing that the government is committed to bringing back the glory of the city. He also announced a greening exercise in which trees will be planted throughout the country, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the county government.

The President reiterated his commitment to lowering the high cost of living in Kenya, promising a further decrease in the price of maize flour beginning next week. He stated that his government is committed to providing affordable and improved services to Kenyans, while also eradicating poverty and hunger.

The government’s plan to generate electricity from waste is a step towards sustainable development and reducing dependence on non-renewable sources of energy. Additionally, the cleanup and greening exercise will not only improve the aesthetics of the city but also contribute to the reduction of air pollution and mitigate the effects of climate change.

However, it remains to be seen how effective the cleanup and greening exercise will be in the long term, and whether the government will follow through on its promises to improve the lives of Kenyans. Nonetheless, President Ruto’s announcement is a step towards a more sustainable and cleaner future for Nairobi and Kenya as a whole.
