Following heavy rainfall that resulted in flooding, the National Police Service (NPS) issued a statement on Saturday advising road users to exercise caution while approaching Sultan Hamud Township on Mombasa Road. The NPS informed motorists plying the route about the traffic congestion caused by the floods and appealed to drivers to be careful and avoid overlapping to prevent further complications.
The NPS stated, “Please note that due to the heavy rains being experienced in various parts of the country, a section of Mombasa Road near Sultan Hamud Township has been flooded. This has resulted in a snarl-up of traffic along that section of the busy highway.” Although police officers were on the ground controlling traffic and monitoring the situation, the NPS urged all motorists approaching Sultan Hamud to drive carefully, be patient, and avoid overlapping.
The heavy rainfall has led to flooding on major roads in many parts of the country, causing concerns about road safety. Mombasa County reported cases of flooding in the Central Business District (CBD), rendering many roads impassable.
