According to IEBC official presidential results as of 7:30 PM August 14, 2022, William Ruto maintains a commanding lead.
According to the IEBC, Deputy President William Ruto received 52.46 percent of the 4,775,268 votes cast.
Raila Odinga has 46.87 percent of the vote, which translates to 4,266,125 votes.
George Wajackoyah, the leader of the Roots Party, has 0.44 percent of the vote, which translates to 40,063 votes.
David Waihiga, the leader of the Agano party, has 0.24 percent of the vote, or 21,398 votes.
The electoral commission has made changes to the presidential results verification process at the national tallying facility in Bomas, Kenya, as it races to meet Tuesday’s deadline.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman, Wafula Chebukati, stated that the process has been reversed to expedite the verification of results from returning officers.
Initially, after passing through verification desks, Returning Officers were expected to present the results to the National Returning Officer.
According to Mr. Chebukati, one Returning Officer takes between three and four hours to process. Only 141 of the 265 returning officers have been processed, leaving 124 on the outside looking in.
According to the IEBC’s head, the new verification procedure will result in faster processing of results and allow the body to meet constitutional deadlines for processing presidential election results.
