Ruto, Raila lead Kenyans in celebrating world champion Faith Kipyegon

National leaders comprising of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto have led Kenyans in celebrating Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon on winning gold in women’s 1500m at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Oregon.

Kipyegon stamped her authority on the women’s 1,500m final almost from the start on Tuesday and drove on relentlessly to take her second world gold medal in a startling three minutes, 52.96 seconds, setting a new world record.

DP William Ruto also congratulated Conseslus Kipruto for winning bronze in the men’s 3000m steeplechase on Tuesday morning.

“Incredible performance! Congratulations Faith Kipyegon for winning Gold and regaining your world 1500M title. Well in Judith Korir and Stanley Mburu for clinching Silver on your respective races and Conseslus Kipruto’s Bronze ,” Ruto said.

Raila Odinga urged Faith Kipyegon to keep running and inspiring the youth.

“Well done, what a powerful finish by Faith Kipyegon to take the 1500 M Gold medal. Congratulations! Keep running and keep inspiring our youth,” Raila Odinga said.

Former minister Musalia Mudavadi said; “It’s a Gold for Kenya. A well deserved win. Congratulations Faith Kipyegon for doing the country great.”

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho also took to his social media pages congratulating Kipyegon.

“Faith Kipyegon wins women’s 1500m finals with a sterling performance! Congratulations are in order for winning Kenya’s first Gold Medal at the World Athletics Championships. You are indeed an inspiration to many. We are proud of you.”

Nationa Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi – “Kudos to Faith Kipyegon for winning and giving Kenya the first gold medal in the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Oregon. That was a faultless execution, your incredible mindfulness and aptitudes were something unique on the pitch.”

Twitter user Kelly Ayodi said; “Faith Kipyegon sent Sifan Hassan into oblivion, nowadays she’s not even sure which race she participates in. What a Legend.”

James Wokabi on his zide noted; “Oh Faith…once again KaFayie to the rescue of Team Kenya. What a performance by a woman who is a master of her craft. Such poise, such power, such elan..and a killer instinct to go with it. Congratulations Faith Kipyegon.. History maker.”

Faith Kipyegon’s gold took Kenya to third position in medal rankings at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
