According to The Sunday Nation, Raila Odinga, the head of the ODM party, is facing a difficult battle to unite his supporters and ensure that he controls both houses of parliament when he takes office in August.
It is now clear why Kalonzo, defense cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Kilifi county governor Amason Jefwa Kingi, CS Peter Munya, and CS Fred Matiang’i all joined the Jubilee party rather than Raila Odinga’s ODM.
The aforementioned political figures are concerned that Raila cannot be trusted, and they want Uhuru to act as their glue to keep the coalition together in order to prevent being shortchanged.
It’s now being revealed that Uhuru is behind the strategy in order to ensure that he maintains enough power and influence after his August succession. According to reports, the president intends to give up a great deal of power in order to keep Raila Odinga in check.
This view is shared by Joshua Kutuny, the deputy secretary general of the Jubilee party, who has warned Kenyans to expect President Uhuru Kenyatta to wield enormous influence beyond August.
“We must occupy a vintage position in the next government as a party. There is a distinction to be made between leaving government and leaving active politics “He said.
