Deputy President William Ruto has suffered a major setback as another resourceful and loyal United Democratic Alliance (UDA) member formally defected from Kenya Kwanza to join the Democratic Action Party – Kenya (DAP-K) ahead of the next election.
Dr. wanjala Iyaya, the UDA party’s Deputy National Organizing Secretary who is also targeting the Webuye East Parliamentary Seat in Bungoma County, has severed political connections with DP Ruto and vowed to secure the Webuye East Parliamentary seat on the DAP-K ticket under Raila’s Azimio.
This is a major political setback for DP Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, and Moses Wetangula, who have lost a crucial confidant in Raila Odinga’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance to Azimio. Hon Wanjala’s departure from UDA may create a political hole under the Kenya Kwanza flag, particularly in the Webuye East Constituency, where he had strengthened his political ties with the locals.
“UDA party Deputy National Organizing Secretary Dr. Wanjala Iyaya who is also an aspirant for Webuye East Constituency seat has officially joined DAP-K. Iyaya was accompanied by the TACUSO elders who affirmed the support for Azimio la Umoja” DAP-K noted
This comes after the UDA youth leader in Kisii County, Antony Kibagendi, betrayed DP Ruto and announced his official departure from hustler nation, joining the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Ominga Magara, the UDA National Treasurer, also resigned from Kenya Kwanza and pledged to declare his next political house in which he will run for the Kisii gubernatorial seat.
Deputy President William Ruto’s state house journey may be jeopardized and obstructed by the ongoing exodus from the UDA party as a result of the fact that the head of state president Uhuru Kenyatta, widely regarded as the kingpin of the Mt Kenya region, has joined Raila’s campaign trail ahead of the next election.
Uhuru backed Raila Odinga for president, calling his deputy untrustworthy and incapable of administering the country’s issues.
