From being the people’s watchman to being the biggest defender of the very system that is oppressing people by making their lives more difficult.
While in Kwale, Raila jealously defended President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government over the skyrocketing food prices in the country to the utter surprise of many.
At the same time, the ODM Leader defended the Uhuru government’s level of borrowing, saying no country can survive without borrowing.
“Hakuna haja ya kupiga kelele tu, na kubweka eti gharama iko juu, nchi gani ambayo haina deni?” (Theirs is no need of making unnecessary noise and barking that the cost of living is high. Which country doesn’t have debts?)” Raila said.
According to Raila, the high cost of living and increasing public debt is a result of high levels of corruption in the government which he says began way back before the handshake. “The cost of living is going up because of corruption. We will deal with this when we assume office. We have the solution to the debt crisis. Let Musalia leave these things to us,” he said.
Raila’s statement comes after Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade blamed the handshake for the rising cost of living in the country.
In a statement read by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya Kwanza said the high cost of living in the country is directly linked to the handshake for the country’s debt crisis.
