Hon. Irungu Kang’ata, a Murang’a county senator, is a close ally of Deputy President Dr. William Ruto and a staunch supporter of the United Democratic Alliance.
Kang’ata launched his gubernatorial campaign Wednesday, where he is likely to run on the UDA ticket for the county’s top seat, succeeding governor Mwangi wa Iria, who has served two five-year terms in office.
Kang’ata has lectured a Citizen television host Sammy Githuku telling him that he is not the Jubilee party as his heart is in the UDA party. This came after the renowned host had asked the Murang’a where his stand was as he was elected on the Jubilee party.
In conclusion, Irungu responded quickly to the question asked. The other members present during the interview were Ugunja constituency member of parliament Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, Maoke Maore and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui who were discussing the election amendment bill.
