Mudavadi’s decision to engage with Ruto could have an impact on his political career, particularly in the Western region bloc. During the ANC National Delegates Conference in Bomas over the weekend. Senator Malala corrected Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua when he ‘welcomed’ the ANC to UDA. UDA is being welcomed into the ANC, according to Rigathi.
Following the meeting, the Hustler team informed Mudavadi’s team that the deputy position was reserved exclusively for the Mt Kenya region, and that any attempt to lose the seat would result in a backlash from Ruto’s supporters in Mt Kenya.
According to new information, Mudavadi agreed to drop his campaign for Mr. Ruto’s running mate. Instead, if Ruto is re-elected, he could be appointed as a prominent cabinet secretary win. Both the UDA and the ANC agreed not to run candidates in Western. In the next government, the ANC will have a 30% share of the vote.
The political pundits however says Mudavadi has thrown his political future into the dust bin. More of his allies have so far defected to Democratic Action Party of Kenya.
