A colorful ceremony was held at the St. Teresa Equator Catholic parish in Ol-Joro Orok, Nyandarua County where 12 couples exchanged vows in a unique mass wedding. The event was attended by hundreds of worshippers and local leaders, including the Ol-Joro Orok Member of Parliament, Michael Muchir. Bishop Joseph Mbatia of the Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu presided over the ceremony, which was filled with love and emotions.

During the homily, Bishop Mbatia reminded the couples of their roles in maintaining strong and healthy marriages. He urged them to avoid selfishness and a lack of true love, which are major causes of disharmony and conflict in most families.

He emphasized the need for respect and honor for all vocations, whether celibate or married. The bishop encouraged husbands and wives to revitalize their marriages and foster love among all family members. He also emphasized the importance of parents in making their homes the base for learning human and Christian values.

The couples expressed their joy at realizing their dreams of marrying for the first time, despite the high cost of planning a wedding. They were grateful for the opportunity to share the costs and make it affordable through a mass wedding.

The Ol-Joro Orok Member of Parliament, Michael Muchira, and Gatimu Ward MCA Dancun Chege echoed their sentiments, stating that the high cost of living was pushing many couples into mass weddings. They challenged those who have not married to do so if they can.

The mass wedding is becoming an increasingly popular alternative for couples who cannot afford the high cost of planning a traditional wedding. Mass weddings allow couples to share the costs and make it affordable, which is why many people are abandoning the traditional one-couple-wedding concept in favor of mass weddings. This trend has been observed in many parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, and South America.
