Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua departed Kenya on Saturday morning for Botswana, where he will attend the Forbes ’30 Under 30′ Africa Summit on behalf of President William Ruto. Accompanying the Deputy President is Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
Gachagua emphasized the importance of the summit in acknowledging young entrepreneurs in various fields, noting that four Kenyans were awarded last year. The summit recognizes exceptional young innovative entrepreneurs in technology, the creative culture, sports, health, science, and other fields.
“I left the country this morning for Gaborone, Botswana, to represent our President William Ruto at the second edition of Forbes 30 Under 30 Africa Summit. I am accompanied by my spouse,” stated Gachagua.
The Deputy President stressed that the summit’s foundation of youth entrepreneurship relates to the Kenya Kwanza government’s agenda as well. He highlighted that youth entrepreneurship is critical to the transformation of Kenya and Africa and is a key strategy in addressing unemployment, which stands at 12.7% in the Continent.
Gachagua further stated that the Ruto administration’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda is contributing to the Africa Rising trajectory.
Moreover, Gachagua expressed his intent to use the opportunity to interact with Kenyans living and working in Botswana during the trip.
