President William Ruto has reiterated that he will not succumb to opposition demands for power-sharing positions. Speaking in Meru on Saturday, he stated that he has no interest in leaders who try to attain power through the backdoor. He also took a jab at Azimio leader Raila Odinga, stating that Kenyans had made their decision on the leadership they wanted during the August 9 General Election.
Ruto expressed his disappointment that some politicians have yet to accept that the elections are over and that it is now time to focus on serving the people of Kenya. He emphasized that he would not be available for any plans related to leadership positions, and that his priority was to serve Kenyans by improving hospitals and roads.
Raila Odinga, on the other hand, has denied any interest in power-sharing, insisting that he is pursuing a just cause for the good of Kenyans. He has picked seven representatives to join the Kenya Kwanza team for talks on a wide range of issues, including electoral reforms. He also stated that he had no interest in discussions regarding power-sharing positions.
President Ruto further stated that street protests would not offer any solutions to the country’s problems, including the high cost of living. He discouraged such protests, emphasizing that they would not solve anything. He urged Kenyans to focus on agriculture and return to their farms rather than engaging in street protests.
