Police are currently pursuing seven men who were caught on CCTV attempting to rob a petrol station in Matungulu, Machakos. The CCTV footage shows five men dressed in police attire raiding the petrol station along the Nairobi-Kangundo road in Tala town. Matungulu sub-county police commander Peter Omondi revealed that the incident occurred around 3:00 am on Friday night.
The CCTV footage depicts the men ransacking the petrol station’s office at 2:09:06 am. The thugs attempted to steal from the filling station by tying up two workers and locking them in a store. However, they failed to break into the safe room as police were alerted by a bodaboda operator.
According to Omondi, the suspects disappeared in the darkness when the police rushed to the scene. No arrests have been made so far. However, the police are analyzing the CCTV footage at the DCI headquarters to identify and arrest the suspects.
Omondi expressed confidence that all the suspects would be arrested and arraigned in a court of law. He reassured the public that it was only a matter of time before the law caught up with the thugs.
The attempted robbery at the Delta petrol station is a clear indication of the growing insecurity in the region. The police must work tirelessly to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
