Ruto and Raila Teams Strike Deal on Bi-Partisan Committee Talks

Yesterday, teams aligned with President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga agreed to hold the first meeting of their bipartisan joint committee today at the Panafric Hotel in Nairobi, a neutral venue.

However, prior to this, the leadership will meet to resolve disputes over the composition of the committee, particularly the inclusion of Adan Keynan from the Azimio-affiliated Jubilee Party, which the Opposition has objected to.

The aim of the meeting is to get to know each other and discuss the framework of talks and how to conduct the dialogue.

The ruling coalition has previously insisted that the talks should be held within the confines of Parliament, while the Opposition wants an extra-parliamentary process.

There has been a growing divide between the opposing camps, with the Azimio coalition set to officially announce the dates for the resumption of bi-weekly anti-government protests next week.
