Dr. David Ndii’s frank views on politics and governance make waves in Ruto government

During an interview on Citizen Television, Dr David Ndii expressed his frustration with the high level of waste in the Kenyan government.

Despite his frankness, the following day President William Ruto praised Ndii for his role in creating a program that allowed Kenya to buy fuel on credit terms from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Ndii, who serves as the chair of the Presidential Council of Economic Advisers, has become the face and voice of the Ruto government’s economic strategy and is known for speaking his mind.

He is credited with conceptualizing Ruto’s “Bottom Up” economic policy mantra and crafting the campaign manifesto, but he prefers to take a background advisory post.

Some in the government are suspicious of Ndii’s motives and question whether he is really helping the regime with his Twitter engagements.
