Betika, a major betting company, is currently facing a legal dispute with one of its customers over a jackpot win of more than half a million shillings.
David Juma, a resident of Nakuru, placed a Sh10 bet on Betika’s platform and won a Sh500,000 jackpot with his brother Collins Kizito.
The two had analyzed the eight games advertised by Betika for prediction and placed their bet accordingly.
However, when they tried to collect their prize money, they found out that the company had mistakenly indicated that one of the matches had not been predicted correctly.
Juma alleges that Betika has refused to pay out his winnings despite his attempts to contact the company. He has sued Shop and Deliver Limited, the company trading as Betika, for breach of contract and malicious actions.
The case will be heard in the Nakuru Small Claims Court on May 8.
