UDA MP Says move to oust Sabina Chege fueled by gender bias

Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech has accused the Azimio la Umoja coalition of gender bias in their push to remove nominated MP Sabina Chege from her Deputy Minority Whip position.

Koech asserted that the coalition believes in neither inclusion nor gender equality and seeks to replace Chege with a male member.

He criticized the coalition for stigmatizing its members who associate with different factions and emphasized that freedom of association is guaranteed in the constitution.

Azimio claims that Chege’s meeting with President William Ruto in State House makes her ineffective in representing the minority, prompting a debate in the National Assembly on April 13

. Speaker Moses Wetangula will make a ruling on the matter at a later date.
