State House Spokesperson’s Unga Price Drop Claims Contradicted by Nairobi Retailers

Unga prices at Nairobi supermarkets are higher than what State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed quoted, according to a recent report by Citizen Digital.

Despite claims by Mohamed that prices had dropped to Ksh.159 and Ksh.160 depending on millers, a spot check by Citizen Digital found that prices ranged from Ksh.189 to Ksh.231 at various supermarkets and retail shops.

Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, Dennis Itumbi, also confirmed the higher prices. Kenyans on Twitter expressed their skepticism and called for independent consumer monitors to verify the prices.
