President Ruto Open to Using Affable Term to End Political Rivalry

During an Iftar dinner with the Muslim community at State House on Monday night, President William Ruto expressed his willingness to refer to opposition leader Raila Odinga as “my brother” in an effort to quell anti-government protests.

Ruto stated that the protests are causing harm to people’s property and businesses and derailing the government’s efforts to address issues such as the high cost of living.

Ruto emphasized that persistent political wrangles prevent the country from making progress in creating a conducive environment for businesses to operate.

Despite Ruto’s call for Raila to call off the protests and engage in a bipartisan parliamentary sitting, the Raila-led Azimio la Umoja coalition has threatened to return to the streets if their demands are not met.
