Azimio withdraws from parliamentary talks with Kenya Kwanza, street hooliganism to resume

The Azimio la Umoja coalition has declared that they will withdraw from any parliamentary proceedings regarding the bipartisan talks due to a lack of transparency shown by Kenya Kwanza. Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated that Kenya Kwanza had not demonstrated any willingness to engage in honest dialogue.

This decision was made after the coalition learned of a motion drafted by Kenya Kwanza to establish a joint select committee in Parliament, which they claimed was made in “absolute bad faith” without consultation.

As a result, the coalition has resolved to engage in an extra-parliamentary dialogue that is transparent, honest, meaningful, and bipartisan.

Azimio shall remain firm on its demands, including reduction in the cost of unga, fuel, electricity, and school fees, audit of IEBC servers, bipartisan reform, and constitution of IEBC.

The coalition will resume its weekly protests at the end of Ramadhan and has instructed its chairperson to invite Kenya Kwanza for a meeting to set ground rules for the extra-parliamentary talks.
