President Ruto expresses concern over Sudan crisis

President William Ruto has expressed grave concern regarding the unfolding crisis in Sudan, which erupted in an apparent coup attempt on Saturday.

Ruto emphasized that the outbreak of violence could reverse the gains that Sudan has made and harm its lasting peace and prosperity.

Furthermore, he is actively consulting with regional leadership and relevant international partners to seek support for dialogue and mediation in Sudan.

These statements were made shortly after Kenya Airways cancelled all flights to Khartoum, Sudan, due to military violence involving the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese army. The RSF claimed to have taken control of the presidential palace, while the army claimed control of all airports.

Military aircraft were observed in the skies above Khartoum, and gunfire was heard in various parts of the city as the army battled the RSF.
