⚡Japanese Prime Minister Kishida evacuated after apparent assassination attempt

The Japanese prime minister, Fumio Kishida, was evacuated unharmed from a campaign event after an explosion occurred.

The incident took place at the Saigasaki fishing port, where Kishida was about to deliver a speech. Witnesses reported seeing a man throw a cylindrical silver object just before the explosion.

While there were no injuries, authorities have taken one suspect into custody.

Kishida was in the area to support his party’s candidates campaigning for a by-election later this month. It is worth noting that the former Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated during a public campaign event last year.
