Stolen Sheep from Kenyatta Family’s Farm Returned by Unidentified Persons

According to police sources, a number of sheep that were taken during a robbery at Northlands farm in Ruiru, Kiambu County on March 27, 2023, have been returned. The family of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta owns the farm.

So far, 18 sheep have been returned to the farm, with some people thought to be aides of two Nairobi politicians dropping off the animals near the farm in cars.

Five of the sheep were found abandoned at Dandora police station on Wednesday night, and they were returned to the farm after security managers identified them through special marks on the animals.

The security manager of the farm has confirmed the return of the animals, but noted that they are emaciated due to poor husbandry. The raid on the farm occurred on a day when opposition protests were taking place, which had been organized by the Azimio coalition.

In the raid, hundreds of hired hooligans arrived at the farm and overpowered the private guards on the farm. They proceeded to cut down trees, steal sheep, and allocate themselves plots on the land.

They even torched part of the 51,000-acre farm. The police did not respond to distress calls from security managers until 24 hours later.
