Ms. Juliana Mujema, an English and Literature teacher and the boarding mistress at Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls’ High School in Kakamega County, has passed away at an Eldoret hospital.
She was admitted in critical condition on Wednesday, on referral from Oasis Hospital in Kakamega County, and was suffering from liver and kidney damage caused by toxins from water and food.
Ms. Mujema, a mother of two, was initially admitted to Bliss Hospital and later to Oasis Hospital before being transferred to Life Care in Eldoret for specialised treatment. She died while receiving her 8th pint of blood on Thursday evening.
Ms. Mujema’s brother has asked the Mukumu Girls Board of Management to follow up on the case after three students died and more than 200 others were admitted to various hospitals across the country due to an outbreak of vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness at the school.
