President Ruto to Commission Water Wroject in Mavoko, Benefiting 500,000 Residents

Around 500,000 residents in Mavoko, Machakos, are expected to benefit from a water project worth Sh2.7 billion, set to be commissioned by President William Ruto on Friday.

The Mavoko Water Supply Project is aimed at easing water scarcity in the region and is expected to increase daily water supply from the current 3000m3 to 15000m3, with 20,000 new household connections.

The project is expected to create over 300 direct jobs, with 40% of the work contracted to local MSMEs. The project is in line with the government’s commitment to provide universal clean and safe water, and is funded by the Kenyan and Belgian governments.

The project will help protect residents from unscrupulous water vendors who sell water at inflated prices. President Ruto is expected to visit the Ukambani region to inspect ongoing government projects and launch new ones over the weekend.
