Kilifi Church Raided After Alleged Starvation Deaths; Pastor Accused of Manipulation

Ten people were rescued by police during a raid on a house in Shakahola village, Kilifi County. However, four others, three men, and a woman, suspected of starvation, died.

These individuals were reportedly followers of the Good News International Church, led by Pastor Paul Mackenzie, who has been linked to the deaths of his followers.

A police report confirmed that the deceased were found in a bad state and that others were being treated in the hospital.

Most of the dead had no identification documents or mobile phones, and their fingerprints were taken for identification. The police have identified those in critical condition, while the bodies of two children who allegedly starved to death by their parents are yet to be exhumed.

Investigations suggest that Mackenzie’s extreme religious teachings led to the deaths of his followers. He has claimed to have prophetic powers and has been released on bail in the case of the two children suspected of being starved to death.
