Senator Cherargei Faces KOT Backlash Over Alleged Plagiarism of Cow Image

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has faced accusations of plagiarism on Twitter after sharing an image of a cow and three calves that he claimed were from President William Ruto’s farm.

However, the Media Observer-V Network of Fact-Checking Desks pointed out that the images were taken from another social media page. Many Twitter users criticized Cherargei for his mistake.

On Tuesday evening, the Senator defended himself, saying that Kenyans on Twitter had misunderstood his post, which he claimed had used “figurative language.”

He urged KOT to redirect their energy toward more productive pursuits that would benefit the country.

This incident follows Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja’s recent claim that he was responsible for a three-year-old image of a clean street in Nairobi’s CBD, which also attracted criticism on social media.
