A man in Kisii has been arraigned in court for assaulting his sister after she threw his ugali away during a family dispute.
The accused, identified as John Okoth, is reported to have been involved in a heated argument with his sister over his share of the family’s dinner.
According to the prosecution, the accused had prepared his ugali and was waiting for the food to be served when his sister threw it away, claiming that he had taken too much of the family’s share.
This allegedly led to a physical altercation between the two, with the accused assaulting his sister and causing her bodily harm.
The accused was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, an offense that carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 20,000.
The case is set to be heard on May 2, 2023.
