Why CS Kindiki has Sent Police in Chuka

Following a protest that led to the blocking of the Embu-Meru highway at Chuka Town in Tharaka-Nithi County, Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki has pledged to hold accountable those responsible for the deaths of two locals.

The protest was sparked by the mysterious death of a local resident, which occurred after police officers arrived at the scene and began using tear gas to disperse the crowd, resulting in the death of one person and exacerbating tensions between the police and locals.

In a statement issued on Saturday night, CS Kindiki announced that high-level investigative teams had been deployed to Chuka Town to investigate the matter and apprehend the culprits.

He further stated that anyone implicated by the evidence will face justice. Additionally, the Interior CS expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the investigations.
