As the votes were being scrutinized, the Supreme Court ordered the IEBC to recount presidential votes in 15 polling stations. The commission was given until 2 p.m. yesterday to begin recounting votes. Nandi Hills and Sinendet primary schools in Nandi County, Belgut, Kapsuser, and Chepktum primary schools in Kericho County, Jomvu and the Ministry of Water Tanks in Mombasa County are among the polling stations. Others include Mvita, Majenga, and Mvita primary, as well as the others listed below.
The Supreme Court also ordered the IEBC to provide Raila Odinga with system passwords so that he could count votes for himself. To avoid further complaints, the ODM party leader wanted to demonstrate the recounting. The question is, why was he given the passwords alone rather than both candidates? We hope that everything is carried out in accordance with the constitutions.
However, following the Supreme Court’s decision to grant Odinga access to the IEBC system, Dr. William Samoe Ruto issued his demands. According to reports, Ruto now wants his agents present when Raila receives the passwords. It means that the two leaders do not trust each other, and thus more demands must be made.But why will the Supreme Court give the passwords to one candidate? It remains to be seen what the next step will be.
The commission will have no choice but to obey the Supreme Court’s order in the coming hours. The reports come at a critical juncture in the petition determination process for the court.
