Daniel Mbolu Musyoka’s body was discovered in Kajiado after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) reported him missing. He was the Embakasi East returning officer.
Musyoka’s death in Kajiado’s Amboseli Park has been confirmed.
A body was discovered by police in Loitoktok, Kajiado South sub-county. DCI detectives remove the body. His remains were recognized by Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya. According to Loitoktok Police Chief Kipruto Ruto, the family identified Musyoka, putting an end to a 5-day search.
Last night, his sisters identified his body at Loitokntok. It is up to police headquarters whether to transport or keep the body, he said.
“The body was thrown into the valley. A tortured corpse. He died tragically. Police believe Musyoka was murdered and abandoned elsewhere. A postmortem will be performed, but officers say his body showed signs of torture and struggle.
According to IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati, Daniel Musyoka went missing on August 11. The Commission was unable to contact him because he was unavailable.
“Embakasi’s returning officer had already left. His bodyguard escorted him to the tallying center yesterday at 9 a.m. “He left for a phone call around 9:45 a.m.,” Chebukati added.
The Commission filed a missing person report at the Embakasi Police Station and requested immediate action.
“The Commission is extremely worried.”
