Rigathi Gachagua, Kenya Kwanza’s vice presidential candidate, claims that Kenyans will know who their next president will be well before the deadline. Despite criticism for moving at a snail’s pace, the IEBC has continued to issue presidential results in each district.
The outgoing Mathira MP, on the other hand, claims that the announcement could come as early as tomorrow, implying that Kenyans will know who their new leader is by Sunday night. Furthermore, he emphasizes that this is conditional on their adversaries’ agents, the Azimio La Umoja coalition, ceasing their interference in the process.
To quote him, “If the pace is maintained and they refrain from causing any unnecessary delays, the winner of the presidential vote should be declared by the end of tomorrow” (Sunday).
According to him, the difficulty and lengthening of the procedure are directly related to Azimio agents’ refusal to allow IEBC personnel to work freely. He has also stated that everyone can see his team being declared the winners and Ruto becoming the next President.
“A calculator can easily calculate who won, making the National Returning Officer’s announcement a formality. mbele iko sawa,” Here’s some more of what he said.
