Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has poked holes in the manner of which the deputy presidential debates moderators conducted the exercise.
Wetangula has highlighted the second tier debate that brought Rigathi Gachagua of Kenya Kwanza and Martha Karua of Azimio La Umoja on stage Tuesday night.
Journalists Sophia Wanuna of KTN and James Smart of Ntv were the event’s moderators that Wetangula has accused of deviating from the real issues meant to be debated on.
The Ford Kenya party leader claims the moderators spent most of the time on past occurrences than focusing on the present and future matters affecting Kenyans that the manifestos of Kenya Kwanza and Azimio political outfits plan to solve.
“We watched the Rigathi/Karua interview. You spent all the time on the past and forgot that we have the present and future that are equally if not even more important and ought to be our focus! What is your true AGENDA?” Wetangula argues.
Both Gachagua and Karua touched on different topics but evidently, the Kenya Kwanza deputy presidential candidate spent most of his time defending his sources of wealth and launching attacks on the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta for his tribulations as a politician , businessman and leader.
On the other hand, Martha Karua appeared calm and remained on her path responding to questions without deviation.
However, Wetangula was not satisfied with the general unfolding of events on Tuesday.
“Matters economy, health, jobs, education, agriculture, environment, extractive sector, regional integration, inclusivity in the management of state affairs etc etc seem to be on your back burner!! Are you aligned to what Kenyans desire or had a script?” He added.
After the deputy presidential debates at the Catholic University of East Africa, next is the presidential candidates debate on July 26 at the same venue.
