A video of William Ruto insisting that post-election violence masterminds be brought to the ICC has emerged.

William Ruto, Uhuru Kenyatta, and four others were summoned to the ICC in November 2010 to answer crimes against humanity charges. Ruto made the sensational claim while campaigning in Kiambu that it was Raila Odinga and Martha Karua who pushed for them to be charged at the Hague-based court. However, a video has emerged in which Ruto insists that the cases against the masterminds of the post-election violence be pursued in the ICC rather than in Kenya, as proposed.

Deputy President William Ruto accused Raila Odinga and Martha Karua of being the architects of their case at the International Criminal Court in The Hague a few days ago.

Facebook is the source.

Following the 2007/2008 post-election violence, Ruto, President Uhuru Kenyatta, and four others were summoned to the Netherlands-based court in November 2010 to answer crimes against humanity charges.

The DP sensationally blamed the two Azimio la Umoja top leaders for their ICC tribulations while campaigning in Kiambu on Friday, July 15.

“Si Bwana Kitendawili (Raila) na huyu Martha Karua ndio walisema tupelekwe Hague ndio walisema tupelekwe Hague? (Wasn’t it Mr Kitendawili and Martha Karua who suggested we go to the Hague?)” Ruto took a selfie.

The ICC will hear the Ruto-backed case.

However, a video has emerged in which the DP insists that the cases against the perpetrators of the post-election violence be brought before the ICC. Then, as Agriculture Minister, Ruto had no idea he would be implicated in the chaos that resulted in over 1,200 deaths and 600,000 displacements.

In a video shared by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, Ruto is heard insisting that the case should not be heard in local courts, as had been proposed.

“We do not want those cases to be dealt with in Kenya.

There is no need to construct a special court in Eldoret or Kisumu, as has been proposed. The case should be brought before the International Criminal Court “Ruto was speaking in Swahili.
