Deputy President William Ruto has accused the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition led by its presidential candidate Raila Odinga of creating an impression that they are the favourites to win the forthcoming general election.
Ruto has fired back to his closest competitors after research firm Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA) opinion polls earlier put Odinga ahead of him with 42% popularity compared to his 39% possibility of winning the August polls.
Lately, InfoTrak in its Wednesday’s findings put Raila Odinga’s popularity at 43% compared to Ruto’s of Kenya Kwanza with 37%, results that Ruto has thrashed.
The United Democratic Alliance party leader has further accused Mr. Odinga of bribing opinion polls companies to put him ahead of the race to State House.
“They go to hotels, they pay pollsters to show that this candidate has 30pc, the other has 40pc. This is robbery in broad daylight. Stop disturbing us with opinion polls. Kenyans are ready to vote on August 9, 2022,” Ruto said at a political rally Thursday morning in Kuria, Migori County.
The defiant Ruto argues that he has outsmarted Raila and his team leaving him with the option to “spreading propaganda.”
“We have defeated them in every strategy. We have defeated them in terms of policy, plans, manifeso, and campaigns. They now hang onto opinion polls.” He charged
However, Mutembei Tv in it’s Thursday interview with Donholm residents has established that a good number of voters are in agreement of InfoTrak and TIFA’s findings, others saying that in fact, Raila Odinga is leading by a wider margin than just the 43%.
