Kapseret Member of Parliament and UDA ally Oscar Sudi has said President Uhuru Kenyatta is planning to extend his term for a third time in office under the cover of Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya political outfit.
Taking to his social media pages on Wednesday, the controversial legislature has reacted to the head of state’s sentiments where he urged Kenyans to elect the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua, over his deputy William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua of Kenya Kwanza.
President Kenyatta was speaking after officially commissioning the Mwiki Level III Hospital on Tuesday.
“They are telling me to wind up and leave the office. Where am I supposed to go? I am here doing my work until the last minute,” President Kenyatta said.
He further said he prefers handing power to Raila Odinga and Martha Karua once he retires in 26 days.
“They are the ones who will be able to continue with this job for us to ensure we have a country that is being led in a just manner, the right way and in a way that solves citizens’ problems,” he said.
“All these other guys care about is politicking and insults. Everywhere they go these days they cannot stop talking about Uhuru. Uhuru is not seeking any votes, is he?” posed President Kenyatta.
In a quick rejoinder, Sudi has reacted;
“I told you four years ago that Uhuru Kenyatta doesn’t want to retire. From his statement yesterday, it is clearly evident that he doesn’t want to go home in the coming 26 days meaning electing team Kuzimia is as good as extending his term for the third time.”
Meanwhile, as the political temperatures continue to rise ahead of the August 9 general election, Raila Odinga of Azimio is leading the opinion polls with 42% compared to Ruto’s of UDA with 39% possibility of winning the presidential election.
