Francis Atwoli’s Speech Is Interrupted Temporarily As Crowds Chant Name of Western Leader

Deputy President William Ruto and Raila Odinga have established themselves as front-runners in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming presidential elections in August.

In addition to receiving widespread support, the two leaders have been aggressively campaigning across the country in order to strengthen their political bases ahead of the presidential elections in August.

Raila Odinga, presidential candidate for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, was in Kakamega today. After Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula joined forces with DP Ruto, he is attempting to maintain his popularity in the region.

The speech of COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli was briefly interrupted as the crowd chanted Hassan Joho’s name.

The disruption occurs moments after Raila Odinga speaks and summons Atwoli to address the crowds, but only a few minutes later, shouts of “Joho! Joho!” can be heard.

This prompted Francis Atwoli to reassure the crowds that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho would speak to them.

Azimio La Umoja leaders urged residents to vote for Raila Odinga as their next president, claiming that Deputy President William Ruto has misled Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.

Video starts at 32:10 minutes.
