Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has urged the Kamba community to rally behind their son, Kalonzo Musyoka, and thus support the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, following Kalonzo’s return to the Azimio camp.
Mule, speaking on Thursday during the Wiper candidates’ joint campaign trail in his constituency, argued that the Azimio camp, which is supporting Raila Odinga’s presidential bid, has a space for them if they form the next government, claiming that Kalonzo has negotiated on their behalf and his demands have been met.
The outspoken lawmaker continued, “Kalonzo’s nomination as Chief Cabinet Secretary in the Azimio government speaks volumes about how the Kamba Community is regarded in Raila’s camp.”
Mule criticized Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance, claiming that the DP has no regard for the community because none of the Ukambani leaders in his team have been given prominent positions should the alliance win the election.
He went on to say that past remarks by Ruto’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua about how few Ukambani votes there are demonstrate how the alliance takes the region for granted.
“If you look at Ruto’s lineup, you’ll notice that Kambas are missing. Gachagua is his deputy, Mudavadi is the Chief CS, Wetangula is the speaker, and others; have you heard anyone from our region? That means we won’t get anything if they win in August; Azimio has several positions open for us “He stated.
