Greenlight For Mike Sonko As Supreme Court Registrar Issues This Statement

Mike Mbuvi Sonko is one of the republic of Kenya’s most well-known and influential politicians. He is the former governor of Nairobi County, and he is currently one of the leaders vying for Mombasa County’s gubernatorial seat, despite being blocked by the IEBC.

Hon Mike Sonko has now been elected as the next governor of Nairobi County. This came after the Supreme Court, through their registrar, made an announcement that will resurrect his gubernatorial ambitions.

According to the People daily, the supreme court’s registrar announced that governor Mike Sonko filed an appeal on his impeachment, which is the exact opposite of what the IEBC tribunal said. According to this publication, Sonko will benefit from this announcement because he will be able to appeal the IEBC tribunal’s decision to the Supreme Court.

“On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Registrar of the Supreme Court Letizia Wachira confirmed that former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko filed an appeal challenging his impeachment within the time limit. Wachira claims in a letter that the appeal was filed online on April 4 and a hard copy was delivered to the registry on May 20.” According to the reports.
