“I Resigned to Support Women Across the Country” Ngilu Breaks Silence on Re-Election Bid

Charity Ngilu, a staunch supporter of Azimio la Umoja and Kitui Governor, has broken her silence on why she dropped her re-election bid. She revealed that her decision not to run for re-election was influenced by her desire to help empower other women across the country, particularly Martha Karua, Raila Odinga’s running mate.

Ms Ngilu stated on Friday that her main goal was to see women’s economic empowerment achieved. Her remarks came during the launch of the Ushanga Kenya Initiative.

“I Stepped Down To Support Women Nationally”┬áNgilu Said.

Narc party stated that she has served in politics for more than three decades and that it is time to pass the torch to new leaders. She also stated that she had to consult her community elders before going public with the news that she was now ready to head and try national politics.

Azimio la Umoja, a Kenya coalition flagbearer, announced the news, saying that Ms Ngilu will not run for re-election and that he needed her in national politics. Ms Ngilu resigned her re-election bid in support of Julius Malombe during the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya campaign tour of the region on June 15.
