Deputy President Dr. William Samoei Arap Ruto is working hard to secure the support of many politicians as he seeks to succeed retiring incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is serving his final term in office under the Kenyan Constitution of 2010. DP William Ruto left Kenya’s ruling Jubilee Coalition party to form the United Democratic Alliance party with a group of rebellious Jubilee politicians. He has been popularizing UDA and enticing leaders to join him by promising them goody goodies.
However, DP William Ruto received a late-night surprise when independent candidates decided to defy his instructions. According to the Standard Digital News Kenya, DP William Ruto has directed independent candidates, particularly those in his strongholds, to back down and support United Democratic Alliance party candidates only in the fourth coming general elections, which will be held in August this year. DP William Ruto is hopeful of defeating Hon Raila Amolo Odinga and forming the next government.
