- Presidential aspirant Ekuru Aukot has threatened to publish all candidates’ degrees and certificates.
- This comes after he asked the IEBC to bar Raila Odinga from running for president.
Thirdway Alliance Kenya presidential candidate Dr. Ekuru Aukot has threatened to publish all candidates’ degrees and certificates in the August presidential election.
He was responding to Daniel Njanga, who questioned his decision to prevent Raila Odinga from running for the country’s top seat because Odinga is not a member of the Azimio La Umoja Coalition and Azimio is a corporate entity, not a political party.
“@EAukot, good morning. If this is a legal case, you should have filed it before presenting your candidacy to prevent Raila’s clearance. Filing a case against a candidate after your own has been rejected suggests malice. Are you certain this is done in good faith?” Daniel Njanga inquired.
Dr. Ekuru Aukot responded, saying, “I will go further to demand that all candidates’ degree certificates be published and verified by the universities they attended.”
Aukot also asked Daniel to read their objection objectively. “It’s the rule. It is never too late to report a transgression of the law.”
“You also have to convince skeptics that this is not an attempt to distract Raila’s ticket with nuisance,” Daniel Njanga added to Aukot. The fact that someone with known transgressions on Chapter 6 has been cleared and you are fine with it suggests that it may not be about the law.
“OK. However, it appears to me that the issue you have raised is more procedural than substantive. Haron Mwau petitioned in 1992 to have all candidates except him disqualified because their papers did not meet the definition of a full cap.”
