Mr Kalonzo Musyoka has left many of his allies who were under the umbrella of Azimio la Umoja to run or deputize some politicians in various elective positions in the August 9th General elections after ditching Azimio la Umoja one Kenya coalition and staging his camp to vie for presidency. Philip Kaloki, the deputy governor candidate for Azimio la Umoja, has faced the same dilemma in deciding who to support between Mr Odinga and Musyoka.
However, the deputy governor candidate for Nairobi county, Kaloki, who is from the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper party, stated on Thursday on K24 TV that they have not been asked to withdraw their support for Raila’s presidential bid. He revealed that they are adhering to their initial agreement, which saw Jubilee (Polycarp Igathe) and Wiper (Kaloki) produce the Nairobi Governor and Deputy Governor candidates for Azimio la Umoja.
“Because of the coalition agreement, my presidential candidate at the moment is Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga, who is supported by our party. We don’t have any instructions that contradict this position “Kaloki stated
He stated that their role now is to support Raila Odinga for the position of fifth president of this country, revealing that in Nairobi, where he is running for deputy governor, the majority of our voters also support Raila Odinga. Many Kenyans were concerned about what would happen to the Azimio gubernatorial ticket in the Nairobi Gubernatorial race after Wiper left the coalition.
