Deputy President William Ruto has been caught in a major quandary in deciding who will be his running mate, despite previously stating that the unveiling process was the easiest.
Karen’s highly anticipated announcement has now taken almost the entire day, with Kenyans growing impatient. Agitated supporters of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua have grown impatient over the delayed naming of the running candidate.
With high hopes of naming their MP as Ruto’s running mate, residents have threatened to withdraw their loyalty to the second in command, issuing a stern warning to Ruto that he will not receive a single vote from the region if their son is not named as the running mate.
Residents in Tharaka Nithi, on the other hand, are eagerly awaiting the unveiling of their own son Kithure Kindiki as Ruto’s running mate, failing which they will withdraw their support for Dp Ruto.
In any case, Dp Ruto’s support from the Mt Kenya region is under threat because each region wants their own to be unveiled, despite the fact that only one can be a running mate. Negotiations have been ongoing since the morning, and Kenyans have grown impatient of waiting for Karen’s announcement.
