Tim Wanyonyi, a member of parliament from Westlands, has revealed why he ended up in a wheelchair.
He wrote on his official Facebook page “My end up in this wheelchair was due to a crime. In 1998, I was shot by carjackers in Ngara. My life quickly changed from that of a young, vibrant lawyer to that of a wheelchair user. Citizen TV Kenya, #JKLive”
Wanyonyi has been a vocal supporter of opposition leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in the August elections.
He has been a member of parliament for Westlands on the ODM ticket for over ten years.
He had declared his candidacy for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, but due to zoning, he decided to withdraw in favor of Jubilee Party’s Polycarp Igathe.
His post drew mixed reactions; here are some of them.
“The far you’ve come from till now is by God’s grace… continue doing great to Kenyans of all walks of life & it’s definite that He will keep showering his blessings on you,” Godfrey Castro wrote.
Wakili Philip Omolo authored “Many of us out here look up to you as an inspiration. Even from your wheelchair, your life shines brightly. I know it’s not easy, but you inspire me to be better than I am now. I hope you keep your Westlands seat and continue to brighten our world.”
According to Josephine “We thank God you are still alive and have demonstrated that disability does not imply inability. God has blessed you, and you have continuously touched many lives and made many people happy.”
According to Oyugi “Honourable, take heart. Fortunately, this has not prevented God from carrying out His plans for you. You are now an Honourable, not just a lawyer.”
