Two men and a woman were discovered dead in each other’s arms in a Nairobi hotel.

Police suspect a cult is also to blame, but investigations are ongoing.

•According to the proprietor of Chairman Lounge Guest House, the three arrived on Monday morning around midnight.

•When they booked the room, the management assumed they wanted to have a good time.

In a bizarre incident, two men and a woman were discovered dead while holding each other in a lodging in Nairobi’s Pipeline area.

Witnesses and police said the trio, whose lips were intertwined, held each other.

When the bodies were discovered Monday afternoon, one of the men was bleeding from the mouth and nose.

Police described the incident as a mystery, but they added that they are investigating the deaths to determine what happened at the lodging.

The detectives in charge of the investigation believe it was the work of a cult.

However, there was no sign of a break-in or struggle in the room, leading police to believe it was a suicide attempt for the time being.

The victims have been identified as Philip Murefu Simiyu, 63, and Boniface Muchiri Waruiru, 28; the woman has not been identified.

The three arrived at Chairman Lounge Guest House around midnight on Monday, according to the proprietor.

When they booked the room, the management assumed they wanted to have a good time.

However, they did not check out of the room on Monday afternoon as planned.

An attendant who went to check on them reported no response, prompting her to call management and police, who broke in through the window to gain access to the room around 2 p.m. Monday.

They discovered the bodies at that point.

Even as the bodies were moved to the mortuary for an autopsy, the motive for the incident remained unknown.

Homicide detectives said they were tracing the families of the deceased in order to figure out what happened.

“The postmortem will reveal whether they ingested poison or what happened in the room.” For the time being, we do not know what caused the deaths,” said Nairobi DCI head Paul Wachira.

This, he says, will also help them identify the woman.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an apparent suicide death of a 70-year-old man in the Sultan Hamud area of Makueni County.
