The Deputy president position has continued to attract more attention and views from Kenyans with the latest mention being a suggestion to have the two presidential candidates pick either Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru or Narc party leader Martha Karua.
Youth in Kirinyaga county have urged the Presidential candidate under United Democratic Alliance who is the Deputy President of Kenya William Somoei Arap Ruto to choose Anne Waiguru as his running mate as she is qualified and experienced beyond Kirinyaga.
This comes in the same breath with women from the region also drumming their support between her and Martha Karua saying they are best suited for the position. With some women asking for the candidates to consider the ladies truck records since they have both served the local mwananchi.
Martha Karua has been a politician and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a defender of human rights, fighting for women rights and a follower of democracy. She served as the first woman minister of Justice and reigned in April, 2009.
She has tried before to run for the top office but later conceded defeat, later she ran for the Gubernatorial seat of Kirinyaga but she was defeated by Ann Waiguru.
Anne Waiguru joined politics after she served as a Minister of Devolution in Uhuru`s Government, she faced a lot of corruption allegations and thus ascended to being Kirinyaga governor for two terms. She has been applauded by some of her electorates for having made Kirinyaga county to almost a city.
Both Karua and Waiguru are staring at a future full of hope, but who is fit for the position of deputy president between them and who will be chosen? This comes even as the IEBC postpones the naming of the Deputy President to a later date.
