President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta will meet the United Democratic Alliance UDA party leader, Deputy President Dr William Samoei Ruto, after a long absence.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Uhuru Kenyatta have been on opposing paths since the president’s reconciliation meeting with Raila Odinga in 2018, where they exchanged handshakes and agreed to work together.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, who received a lot of help from DP Ruto to get elected, later turned him down and backed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition ahead of the expected August 9 general elections.
President Uhuru and Ruto will meet in Parliament to attend a memorial service for the late President Hon Mwai Kibaki. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 30th, at his home in Nyeri county, and his body will be displayed in the statehouse prior to the burial.
