The 10 days ultimatum

The Ultimatum issued by IEBC to the two competing coalitions to name their running mates, towards the 9th August, 2022 General elections in Kenya is not final, lawful and thus not valid.

According to The Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, the timelines could be changed and thus should not be something to worry the top candidates, sentiments supported by constitutional lawyer Charles Thiongo.

This comes even as The Speaker confirmed that his move to join Kenya Kwanza coalition with his Democratic Party (DP) is unquestioned despite some DP officials from the party heading to court to seek nullification of the move.

An ad-hoc committee formed by the registrar of political parties is expected to hear the case and give a direction.

Speaking in Kiambu town, Muturi came clean over claims raised by a section of MPs in Parliament that he is shielding the Deputy President William Somoei Ruto against land stealing claims, saying they hold no water.

Muturi, confirmed that talks are underway in the Kenya Kwanza Coalition to pick a suitable Running Mate.
