The 2022 presidential elections are just around the corner, and Deputy President William Ruto and Odm leader Raila Odinga have been identified as the frontrunners.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has been relying on the former Prime Minister to succeed him rather than His Deputy, whom he considers to be too ambitious for power.
Uhuru is expected to play an important role in Raila’s campaigns, with the President tasked with delivering the vote-rich Mt Kenya to Raila.
Despite public support, Uhuru has been hesitant to embark on a campaigning spree with Raila forced to move around alone without his brother. However, the wait is over as Uhuru issues orders to all of his party members.
According to a local daily, Uhuru has urged party members to leave their offices, boardrooms, and hotel rooms to campaign for his party and the former Prime Minister.
According to Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, the President told them to get started right away because he expects to have more than 50 Jubilee MPs after August. He is also looking for 11 governors and senators to ensure that Jubilee remains a formidable force.
